A studio exploring trompe l’oeil ceramics

Gerald Arrington Stoneware Ceramics is a husband-and-wife studio based in the heart of Sonoma County, California, where artist Gerald Arrington creates stunning trompe l’oeil ceramics inspired by the natural beauty of river stones and driftwood.
Gerald’s fascination with these forms began over 25 years ago while fly fishing on the Big Wood River in Idaho, and continues to fuel his passion for capturing their intricate textures in clay. Drawing inspiration from the groundbreaking work of Marilyn Levine, whose stunningly realistic ceramic renditions of worn leather left a lasting impression, Gerald’s pieces explore the timeless forms and weathered surfaces of nature’s materials. Each unique piece of ceramic art is a testament to the beauty and serenity of the river system, brought to life with meticulous craftsmanship and a deep reverence for the natural world.
His wife, Karen, oversees the business side of the operation, ensuring the continued success of their collaborative venture.
