Arrington Design is a small family-run studio based in northern California's beautiful Sonoma County, and is operated by Gerald, his wife Karen, and son Ethan.

Gerald employs a variety of techniques he has developed over the past ten years to create these truly one-of-a-kind "stoneware" ceramics. It is a painstaking process that begins by throwing a closed form on the wheel. While still on the wheel, he adds the coloration. After a period of drying, he begins the altering process by paddling the form until it takes on the shape and characteristics of a river stone. After he has created many "stones", he combines them to form teapots, "cairn" containers, bowls, salt and pepper sets, and fountains. The resulting pieces are reminiscent of stratified sedimentary stones worn and smoothed by water.

Gerald's background includes receiving his BA in Fine Art from Idaho State University, as well as being a life-long student of nature. He also teaches individual throwing classes as well as workshops focusing on the creative process.
